Research institutes are establishments that are given the powers and responsibilities for performing research toward various ends. There are many research institutes related to social sciences as well as historical and sociological research organizations. The term ‘research institute’ implies that scientific research is a primary function of the research work that will be focused on.

the first research institutes was the astronomical / astrological observatory known as Uraniborg that was built around the end of the 16th century on an island between Scania and Zealand. This research institute attracted students from several different regions and various astronomy related disciplines.

The palace an Uraniborg contained equipment for alchemical research as well as flowers and herbs designed into geometrical designs in the lush gardens. There was also an observatory from which observations of various kinds were made and contributed to research and scientific discovery in many fields.

This organization works outside of governmental influence and provides independent analysis and guidance to its clients. This organization relies on peer reviews and a volunteer workforce.
