My Mother Collects Flower Baskets
My mother is fanatical about flower baskets. She has been collecting them and filling them as long as I can remember. She likes to have pretty things around to remind her that life is beautiful is what she told me while I was growing up.
My siblings and I know just how much mother loves flower baskets. For mother’s sixtieth birthday, we all pitched in to buy her something special. My siblings were more than happy to let me do the actual searching for and purchasing of the gift.
The flower baskets that I found online varied widely. The one we ultimately decided on was a large spring bouquet in a French wire basket.
The collection of sorbet colored silk flowers was wonderful and worth every cent of the five hundred dollars that we spent purchasing it. Flower baskets just don’t get any fancier than this either.
My mother has recently developed an interest in very specific flower baskets. She really has been enjoying antique Japanese bamboo flower baskets. They look nice, but I’m not sure why she has fallen head over heels for them.
My dad
just gave my mother a lovely collection of roses in flower baskets. I could tell that he really enjoyed her reaction to the gift. He adores making her happy.
My mother keeps asking me when I am going to start my own collection of flower baskets. I don’t really have the heart to tell her that I am not going to be collecting the same thing she does.
I don’t know what I want to collect. When I figure it out, I will let her know. I do not plan to collect flower baskets in the interim, though.
