Cutlery Sets For Gifts
I own a very nice set of cutlery made by Messermeister. I take a great deal of pleasure cooking for friends and family and my tools help me create masterpieces. I think that every kitchen should have good cutlery as an inspiration for cooking great food. Great cutlery makes short work of lots of preparation work.
I buy cutlery for people as housewarming gifts and also as wedding presents. It is always well received. I usually include with the cutlery an offer to cook with them in their new kitchen. I enjoy trying out the different sets of cutlery I’ve given and it gives me a chance to visit with someone one on one in their new home or after they’ve settled in as a couple.
My little sister moved into her first apartment and the cutlery I chose for her was a seven piece professional cutlery set by Dexter. She has been using these knives for several years now and loves the ten inch cook’s knife best. She never did much cooking before she moved into her own place. Now, she cooks all of the time. I credit the cutlery with the inspiration.
My cousin graduated from cooking school and moved into a new condo last year. My aunt asked me to find a good set of cutlery for him and that she would pay for half of it. I had no trouble finding the perfect nine piece Kershaw cutlery set for him. His mother was so pleased my find and didn’t mind the six hundred dollar price tag. My mother split my half of the cost with
me and we counted our half as part graduation gift, part housewarming gift.
Last Christmas, I gave out single pieces of Farberware cutlery as gifts to neighbors. The knife I chose was a seven inch Santoku knife for chopping, slicing and dicing. I really believe that more people need to have good cutlery in their kitchens. Cooking is so much more enjoyable with the right tools. I got so many thoughtful thank you notes for the cutlery during January and even several dinner invitations throughout the Spring.
My dream cutlery set is made by Henckels. It is a 23-piece block cutlery set that sells for two thousand dollars. I don’t think that I’ll ever buy that for myself, but I can dream about it. Wusthof makes an attache set of chef’s cutlery that sells for about the same, but I don’t like it as much. Something about the Henckel name just sells me on that dream.
